A few days ago, our country lost Mumbai's popular television and film actor, Sidharth Shukla who was 40 years of age. He died due to a cardiac arrest. He was taken to the hospital but doctors declared him dead. There was no internal or external injury after the post-mortem.

He started his career as a lead role in a TV show, 'Babul ka aangann chootay na' and many more but he became famous only after 'Balika Vadhu'. Apart from TV shows, he was the winner of Bigg Boss 13 and Fear Factor: Khatron Ke Khiladi 7. He also worked in Humpty Sharma ki Dhulania. 

The actor's sudden demise came as a shock to everyone. 

Just last month another known face Mandira Bedi's husband Raj Kaushal passed away after a sudden heart attack. While the doctors are yet to rule out Shukla's untimely heart attack and death, unfortunately, there have been rising reports of cardiac ailments and sudden heart attacks claiming the lives of many in their 30s and 40s which is an alarming statistic that needs attention.

May their soul Rest In Peace. For a long time now we have heard a lot of people dying due to heart attack at such a young age. Heart attacks have now become so common at a young age. 


Sudden cardiac arrest is a life-threatening emergency that happens from an abrupt and unexpected loss of heart function leading to loss of consciousness and collapse. If not treated within minutes, it will lead to the death of an individual.


  • Chest pain
  • pain in either of the arms
  • uneasiness
  • shortness of breath

Some never had any symptoms of heart problems until the sudden cardiac arrest.


Sudden cardiac arrest can be a cause of death in young athletes but it also affects people not involved in sports. It can happen during exercise or at rest or even during sleep.

The causes of sudden cardiac death in young people vary. For various reasons something causes the heart to beat out of control. The most common reason is Coronary Artery Abnormalities. In this abnormality sometimes people are born with heart arteries that are connected abnormally due to which the arteries can become compressed during exercise which does not provide proper blood flow to the heart.

These were some scientific reasons for a heart attack. But nowadays, psychological reasons have taken a major place in causing it. The main being-

  • Stress
  • changing modern lifestyle and stationery habits.

Young people to reduce stress engage themselves in unhealthy habits such as smoking and excessive tobacco use and alcohol uses.

Many people to maintain a slim body do not take a proper diet.


Young or old getting a heart attack can be life-threatening and cause death. Though there is no cure to stop a heart attack, we can reduce chances of reducing it especially in the 30s and 40s-

  •  Follow a good Heart-healthy diet.
  • Exercise daily but not in excess.
  • Cut down on alcohol and tobacco consumption.
  • If have a family history, go to a doctor at an early age.
  • Reduce stress level.
  • Go for a yearly full body check-up.
