Donald Trump , the former president of USA signed an agreement with Talibans in February 2020 committing to withdraw military forces by May, 2021 in return for Talibans not allowing AL Qaeda and other such groups from using Afghanistan as a place to recruit, train activities that threatened United States.

Joe Biden, the President of USA had declared in April 2021 that all american militants would leave Afghanistan before completion of 2 decades of  9/11.

Talibans felt betrayed by USA for delaying the drawdown of US militants and started to rapidly gain control and power over Afghanistan. By now, Taliban has completed the take over of Afghanistan by entering the capital of the country, Kabul.

Today, 15th August 2021 Taliban has captured Kabul and it is said that the president Ashraf Ghani had left the city for Tajikstan.

With this situation, Afghanistan is in havoc. People are leaving for either airport or back to their home and camping at safe places, they are also withdrawing their savings causing long queues outside the banks. Few banks are right now out of cash. The condition is not good.

Though few representatives of Taliban said that they will not hurt anybody and wait for peaceful transfer of power yet there were gunshots heard at the outskirts of Kabul.

Taliban has also said the rights of children and women will not be violated this time.

US has begun evacuating members of staff from its embassy, sending 5000 troops to help with the operation. About 600 British troops are being deployed to help departure UK citizens and other people. India airlifted about 129 passenger from Kabul and has also decided to provide a long term visas to the refugees.

The Taliban stands for "student" in Pashto language. Initially, the leader of taliban group was Mullah Omar. He formed this group with 50 students. Later, many refugees of Afghanistan came back from Pakistan and joined this group. They were extremely religious.
By September 1996, Kabul was captured by the Talibans and established The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan. Initially, people were happy due to the stabilization provided by Talibans in the country. There was peace in few areas of Afghanistan. But, then the true colors of Taliban came into notice, their conservative thinking.  There were many things which got banned at that time-

Compulsion of Beard for men and full covering of bodies for women. Women could not leave their houses without men.
All these things are unacceptable in today's society of feminism expressing women rights.
Only three countries- Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and united Arab Emirates recognize the Taliban as the legitimate government in Kabul.

After 9/11 terrorist attack in 2001, USA came to know that a group called AL Qaeda and its leader Osama Bin Laden were responsible for it and are hiding in Afghanistan under the shelter of the Taliban. Taliban refused to handover Osama Bin Laden which caused USA to do airstrikes on the country.

And then, Taliban was removed and a new Afghan Government was formed supporting democracy. Karzai won the election and became the president of Afghanistan at that time. He built strong relations with India. Meanwhile USA killed Osama Bin Laden in 2011.

Will formation of Taliban in Afghanistan be beneficial for India? or would it dispute the relation between India and Afghanistan? What are your thoughts?
